Old tree with dangerous branches

The tree has branches that hang over my garden and im very worried about the possiblility of them falling onto my children playing outside in the back garden.

Barnet do seem to have a problem about not replying to reports.
However, you also need to understand that the scope of Barnet's use of FixMyStreet is very limited, basically just repairable problems that affect users of the public streets.
I assume this tree is on council land. In that case, I think you actually need to phone one of the numbers in http://www.barnet.gov.uk/ info/ 505/ tree_management/ 92/ tree_management
When the council say "overhanging foliage", they mean privately owned foliage that is partly blocking a public road or footpath.
